BONDED BY ICE: THE SOUNDTRACK

The original production notes found recently revealed a rough outline of musical numbers which could be used in scenes which made it to the final cut.  We can now exclusively reveal the list of songs that were considered. The information in brackets refers to the scene in which the song was to be used and the character who was to take lead vocals (on ice!)

• 'Let's Face The Music & Dance' - Nat King Cole (Lead vocalists: Gary & Martin Kemp as Ronnie & Reggie Kray. Scene: Film intro / credits. The twins seen tap dancing on ice).
  
• 'Beat It' - Michael Jackson (Lead vocalists: The crowd at fairground boxing ring on ice. Scene: Boxing match between Ronnie & Reggie Kray).
  
• 'Smooth Criminal' - Michael Jackson (Lead vocalist: Chorus group. Scene: Snooker Hall)
  
• 'YMCA' - The Village People (Lead vocalist: Gary Kemp as Ronnie Kray. Scene: Ronnie says, "Need a place to stay?" to the two young runaway boys who come to the Krays for help).
  
• 'Fill Me In' - Craig David (Lead vocalists: Mr & Mrs Lawson. Scene: Reggie meets Francis's parents for the first time). [Musical supervisor's note: Emphasis on the lines, "Where were you creeping around late last night, when I see two shadows moving in your bedroom light. When I left you were dressed in black and now you're dressed in white...can you fill me in?" Etc etc ???]
  
• 'Crocodile Rock' - Elton John (Lead vocalist: Francis. Scene: Reggie gives Francis a broach).
  
• 'True' - Spandau Ballet (Lead vocalist: Tony Hadley. Scene: Reggie and Francis's first kiss on ice). [Musical supervisor's note: As the camera pulls back on Reggie and Francis kissing, Steve Norman makes a cameo appearance, skating around the couple, playing the sax. Etc etc ???]
  
• 'My Gang' - Gary Glitter (Lead vocalists: Gary & Martin Kemp as Ronnie & Reggie Kray. Chorus: The Firm. Scene: First meeting of the Firm. Ronnie: "You're late for the meeting!")
  
•  'Who Let The Dogs Out?' - The Baha Men (Lead vocalists: The Firm. Scene: The gang on their way to the Old Oak pub for a shootout).
  
• 'Buck Rogers' - Feeder (Lead vocalist: Martin Kemp as Reggie Kray. Scene: The moment when Reggie sees someone looking at his car / wife). [Musical supervisor's note: Emphasis on the lines "I've got a brand new car, just like a jaguar. It's got leather seats, it's got a CD player!" Etc, etc ???)
  
• 'Born In The USA' - Bruce Springsteen (Lead vocalist: Mr Palendri, featuring Gary & Martin Kemp as Ronnie & Reggie Kray. Scene: The twins meet up with fellow gangsters, Mr Palendri, from America).
  
• 'Heaven Is A Half Pipe' - OPM OR 'Gangsta's Paradise' - Coolio (Lead vocalists: Chorus group. Scene: Francis's death). [Musical supervisor's note: OPM - emphasis on the lines "At least in heaven I can (ice) skate". Coolio: "Tell me why are we so blind to see that the ones we hurt are you and me". Etc etc ???]
  
• 'He Ain't Heavy (He's My Brother)'  - The Hollies (Lead vocalist: Gary Kemp as Ronnie Kray. Scene: The twins reconciliation after Francis's death).
  
• 'Little Bruises' - Gary Kemp (Lead vocalist: Gary Kemp. Scene: Out-takes of the cast and crew slipping on the ice as the film's end credits roll).
